For those of us who have been skipping the early breakfast networking events in January, the annual joint West Lothian Chamber of Commerce and West Lothian Women in Business networking lunch last week was a perfect way to kick off networking for 2019! A speaker, lunch and a chance to catch up with other local business people in a relaxed way.
Linda Scott, Chair of the West Lothian Chamber of Commerce, introduced the event with some tantalising snippets of information and photos from her recent fund-raising 100 mile trek across the Sahara Desert. An incredible feat, and we’ll be hearing more about it next month as Linda is lined up to be one of the panelists at our International Women’s day event – 7th March, save the date! More information on that coming shortly.
Michelle Quinn of Almond Engineering took us on a whistle-stop tour of her career to date, and as ever it was great to see her drive and motivation and to hear about some of the challenges she faced as a young woman in a thoroughly male-dominated environment. Her belief in the young people that the company nurtures, and her wider work with Developing the Young Workforce, is inspirational.
Over lunch we were able to make connections with other delegates, and swapped tables for dessert in a most orderly fashion – many thanks to the West Lothian Chamber of Commerce for their impeccable organisation!
The annual joint networking lunch takes place each January, and the speaker is the Chamber of Commerce Shona Sibbald Woman in Business Award.
West Lothian Women in Business Coffee and Conversation for 2019 resumes on Thurday 28th February at Dobbies Livingston. Grab a coffee and come for informal but guided networking and support with other local women. We hope to see you there! It’s free to attend, and the link to register will be posted nearer the time.
Our annual International Women’s Day event will take place on Thursday 7th March. More information coming shortly.
