West Lothian Women in Business is a non-profit group run by a small number of volunteers. The group is here to help empower and support women who, are either running their own business or considering it, are professional women in the business world or other organisations and who would like to connect with other like-minded women and grow as individuals.
Harvest to Jar –> Raw ingredients to Product
Traditionally, autumn was a time when many of us (as kids at least) went out to pick brambles or strawberries for Mum to make sugary things in jars. Jams and jellies spread on “pieces” (that’s bread and butter for non-Glaswegians) into our pack lunches for the rest of the year!
The “raw” ingredients we gathered were turned into the most amazing sticky sweetness and in so doing, created something greater than bread and brambles. This reminds me of the saying (crafted from a quote by Aristotle from Metaphysics, Book 8 – for those interested):
“The whole is greater that the sum of its parts.”
In our own businesses (or anything we do in life), we have to craft a “set of ingredients” to create our products and services. In so doing, we than add some kind of value and create something “greater” than the parts.
At this harvest time, we invite you to take a look at your “ingredients”, how are you combining them in your “pot.” Are they stale? Do you need to spice them up? What would happen if you added something different or completely shook up the recipe? Or maybe you’re bored with it and want to start again from scratch!
We invite you to bring your “list of ingredients” or ideas for your existing or new “recipe” and run it by some like-minded ladies, at our monthly GOLD networking (on 27th September). Come along and explore, share and seek some help and contacts from the group to help you re-ignite or reach those personal and business goals.
